Community drives J.B. and Erica Holmes to support East Lake

The first time PGA TOUR golfer J.B. Holmes visited East Lake, he was blown away by the resiliency of the community and the spirit of its people. Last year, he participated in the “Birdies for East Lake” challenge, and this year he made an even stronger commitment to East Lake by joining select members of the golf club in the “84 for 84″ campaign to honor the graduating seniors at Charles R. Drew Charter School.

Learn more about what J.B. and his wife Erica are doing for East Lake here.

Getting connected to good health

Vanessa Tolen is a resident of the Villages of East Lake, and our Healthy Connections initiative has had a huge impact on her health and well-being.

Healthy Connections is funded by a grant from the Jessie Williams Foundation, and it provides access to healthcare services for women and children in the community.

After a 2010 health scan conducted by the Mosaic Group found that a comprehensive health initiative was lacking in the community, the East Lake Foundation created the East Lake Healthy Connections program to address this concern. The grant ensures that all eligible families currently served by the East Lake Foundation and its partners are enrolled in health insurance programs, connected to accessible medical homes, and able to appropriately utilize primary and preventive healthcare services.

Learn more about Vanessa’s story here.
